Each one brings its own unique style to the game and whatever the player chooses, their race will help mold what kind of character they grow to be. Afterwards, you'll be able to start adventuring straight away.įFXIV: ARR features 5 races. Once you've created your character and gone through all these steps, you'll be treated to a cutscene. There will be some cross-server capabilities in Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, but if you want to group up with a lot of friends it's recommended to choose one server near the region you live in and play there. Currently they're divided in to North American and European Servers and Japanese Servers. The last section of character creation is choosing your world, or server. Depending on your class, you'll end up in one of three starting zones: Gridania, Ul'dah, or Limsa Lominsa. ![]() For more information about classes, check out the Classes section. There are 12 different elemental Patron Deities and every character gets Elemental Attribute Power based on the deity they choose. Once you're finished choosing the look of your character, you'll be able to choose their birthday and patron god or goddess. These options are for cosmetic purposes only. As for attire, characters can be displayed in either their race's starting clothes, their job clothes, or their smallclothes that they wear around town. The different environments include the starry ethereal default background, the inside of a house, and the three main starting areas of the game during either day or night. When choosing your character's look, you can even pick the background environment they're displayed in, their pose, and attire. After choosing a race, players can choose to customize any of 20 different options, including hairstyle, eye shape, tattoos, voice, and more. People picking up the game will start at this point, 5 years after the events of the original, entering the world as a fresh new adventurer trying to make their mark on Eorzea.Ĭharacter creation in Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is very in-depth. A few noble adventurers were spared destruction however, and now 5 years have passed since that fateful day. This end involved an apocalyptic event occurring, devastating the lands of Eorzea. Without giving too much away, the original FFXIV saw the story come to an end just before the servers were shut down. Instead of just ending it and rehashing the story for the second game, they made it continue where the first left off. One of the neatest aspects of FFXIV: ARR is how the story has evolved from the original version. If you never played or purchased the original, you can pick up this new title as if it were an entirely new product, because really, it is 95% new. People who own the original version can simply download a large update for their version of the game to gain access to FFXIV: ARR. If you picked up the original and were let down, it is highly suggested you give the game a second chance. The questing structure was completely reworked and the game has basically evolved into an entirely new beast. Classes, Jobs, Locations and everything else has seen some work done. The first question nearly everyone asks about this game is "How has it changed since the original version?" Well the answer is that nearly everything has been changed. A level cap of 20 has been set during these periods, to ensure people don't reach max level before the games official launch, but other than that all other content should be available, barring any serious bugs or issues that may arise.įinal Fantasy XIV vs. All characters created in the Open Beta and Early Access will carry over to launch. Early Access starts on the 24th and will run all the way until launch as well. Early Access is for people who have already pre-ordered the game. ![]()
